We have already had the opportunity to write about WiFi 6E technology in a
previous publication. This time we will present new products from
Mimosa by Airspan that also support this technology.
A6 and
C6X are two new products that have already gone on sale in 2023. Of course, both two support the new wireless communication technology, based on
WiFi6E. Let's take a closer look at them.
Access point with Wi-Fi 6E technology
The Mimosa A6 is a new access point that sets a new standard for the performance and capacity of our wireless networks. With Wi-Fi 6E, it excels at working in noisy areas for unlicensed point-to-multi-point (PTMP) connections. A huge advantage is OFDMA support , 1024-QAM modulation, 8-stream beamforming (8x8 MU-MIMO) and bandwidth support, up to 160 MHz! With its huge capacity, the Mimosa A6 provides transmissions, up to 7 Gbps, and goes beyond the traditional 5GHz band because it operates from 5150MHz, up to 6425MHz, so we can take advantage of the less noisy 6GHz band.
The Mimosa A6 operates on 802.11ax (wifi6e), so you get unparalleled 60bp/Hz spectral efficiency. And as mentioned earlier, another advantage is MU-MIMO technology and OFDMA for multiple users (8x8 MU-MIMO). As a result, the access point can provide high throughput for up to 200 subscribers, in virtually any location.
Reliable in noisy environments
As we know, unlicensed bands usually have very high noise and many times it is difficult to provide the customer with adequate quality of service. The Mimosa A6 offers a whole arsenal of new, advanced techniques for combating noise, so it finds itself perfectly at home in noisy environments. Of course, this is due in large part to OFDMA technology. And whether you want to operate in very noisy conditions or in conditions very close to LOS, the Mimosa A6 introduces a host of new integrated antenna features to achieve signal improvements of more than 10dB. All this while keeping the device compact.
Why choose the Mimosa A6 over the A5x, A5c, and A5? The new access point is equipped with a Wi-Fi 6E chipset, which provides
high MIMO 8x8 multi-user spectral efficiency, low-latency OFDMA, antenna beamforming with noise reduction (beamforming), support for wider 160 MHz channels in the 6GHz band. As a result, the
A6 can provide throughput of up to 7Gbps, and gigabit subscriber speeds for the customers themselves.

Super fast client tip
In addition to
the base station, there is also a new super-fast client end, the
Mimosa C6x, which, like the A6, supports Wi-Fi 6E technology and thus OFDMA. The C6x operates in the 6GHz band and can provide data rates of up to
1.75 Gbps. For the moment, the C6x works only in PTMP (Point-to-multipoint) mode. The device has a gigabit Ethernet Rj45 port and supports
2x2 MU-MIMO at 1024QAM modulation.
The Mimosa C6x is an integrated radio with expandable modular antennas. The native gain is 8dBi, but this can be increased by installing appropriately sized antennas (12,16,20 or 25dBi). The X-series antennas are modular and are mounted easily by screwing them onto the X-series twist-on connector on the C6x. Thanks to this solution, the client device will work great for both short and long distances.
A huge advantage of using the C6x solution is, first of all, the reduced influence of in-band noise across the operating channel. Compared to previous, older OFDM solutions, where noise affected the entire channel, C6x dramatically reduces the size of the resource unit to 2MHz. And this makes it ideal for highly noisy areas.
The C6x is a typically outdoorsy device that is IP67-rated. This allows it to work in really harsh climatic conditions. The housing is made of extremely durable components, by the way, ensuring RF noise reduction at a very high level.
Mimosa C6x specifications
- Speed of up to 1.75 Gbps
- Wi-Fi 6E support
- Operation in the 6 GHz band
- OFDMA, Beamforming, GPS
- IP67 waterproof outdoor enclosure
- Gigabit Ethernet port
- MU-MIMO 2x2
- 58° beamwidth
It must be said that
Mimosa has not for the first time risen to the challenge. The new
A6 and
C6x products promise to be very interesting. Especially since they support the
802.11ax protocol
(Wi-Fi 6E). This has a very big impact on work in the very noisy 5 ghz bands, so look forward, dear readers, to further publications in which we will show how these devices work in the field. We have already had the opportunity to test the
B24 and
A5x in the field. We obtained very good results, which proves the great performance of these devices. As a result, we will soon test how the new Mimosa solutions perform in very noisy conditions. Follow our website,
youtube channel,
FB and Instagram! More tests are coming soon!
