Ubiquiti UVC G4 Pro camera

The G4 Pro camera is a super sharp 4K camera with 3x optical zoom and powerful infrared LEDs for night vision. The most powerful camera in Ubiquiti's range. Designed to be mounted indoors and outdoors thanks to weatherproof materials used in production and the IP67 rating. The camera has been equipped with sharp 4K lens with 3x optical zoom, wide angle IR LED for recording images also at night. The viewing height is 110'~35° and vertical is 60'~20°, the resolution of 3840x2160 with ½" size sensor and 8 megapixel sensor and H.264 video codec and built-in microphone makes it a very functional device. Its dimensions are Ø86 x 153mm Ø3.39 x 6.02" and weight 700g (without mounting kit). The adjustable base can be mounted on a flat surface or, thanks to the included component and screws, on a wall without much complication. The ball joint mount adds functionality.

Mounting

The manual contains several valuable tips that should be paid attention to during installation in order to prolong the life of the device and ensure proper operation. It is recommended to use two Ethernet surge protectors ETH-SP-G2, one near the camera and the second at the entrance to the building. The device will absorb surges and safely discharge them to the ground in the case of lightning discharges, in the case of outdoor installations. The diagram of such a solution can be seen below

Configuration

Configuration of the device is very simple, but before starting it we should prepare the previously configured devices such as

switch or poe adapter that provides access to the Internet and power supply (in our case it is a USW-INDUSTRIAL switch)
NVR or modem that provides Internet access and video recording (we use UDM PRO Machine)

Connect the camera to the switch via Ethernet cable and download the Unifi PROTECT application.

The first time you launch UniFi Protect, the application will ask you to enable Bluetooth and other features necessary to ensure the best possible use of the camera functions. By going through the various tabs in the application, you will set all the parameters to your liking. Below is a step-by-step installation process

Comparison of G4 DOME , G4 PRO, and UVC G4 BULLET cameras

We compared other cameras in the G4 and G3 series with each other. They were tested in terms of the quality of day and night images taken, as well as the specifications of each model. The G4 PRO camera definitely stands out with its maximum recording resolution of 4K and maximum frame rate of 30 FPS.
