Totolink LR1200 is a fairly simple, inexpensive, common and reliable router with LTE cat.4 modem, which allows downloading information at speeds of up to 150Mbit and uploading data at speeds of up to 50Mbit. To achieve these speeds, the router has 2 external LTE antennas with 5dBi gain.
In order for a large group of friends and family to enjoy a wireless hotspot, the Totolink LR1200 is equipped with 2 built-in Wi-Fi antennas with 5dBi gain, which are used to distribute Wi-Fi signals on 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies. These antennas allow speeds of up to 867Mbps on 5GHz and up to 300Mbps on 2.4GHz. Such wireless speeds are sufficient for watching 4K videos and several people at the same time.
TheTotolink LR1200 has a powerful built-in quinet that allows up to 64 users to be connected simultaneously and provides the best possible data transfer between devices and the Internet.
Before configuration
Before turning on and configuring our Totolink LR1200 router for the first time, there are a few necessary steps to be taken. And the first activity is unpacking the device, screwing on the external LTE antennas, which are also included in the kit.
The next step is to prepare a working SIM card with a connected tariff and an available call package. On the SIM card, you need to disable PIN verification beforehand ( so that the router starts working right away ). You can immediately insert the SIM card into the special slot in our Totolink LR1200.
After these preparatory steps, you can connect power to the router, press the power button, wait 2-3 minutes for the device to boot up.
Connection and first configuration
After our Totolink LR1200 router has turned on and is working properly, the LED indicators on the device show us the signal strength and mobile network connection technology - we can confidently proceed with the connection and configuration. We can connect to the router in 2 ways - wired and wireless.
In the case of a wired connection, we need to select one of the 4 orange ports on the device (the yellow port is used for incoming Internet connection) and connect the RJ45 patchcord with one side to the device and the other to the laptop/computer.
If you want to connect wirelessly, you need to find the"TOTOLINK_LR1200" or"TOTOLINK_LR1200_5G" network in the Wi-Fi network selection on the device and simply connect to one of them.
After a short wait (until the device receives the IP address from the router), you can proceed to the initial configuration of the router.
Why configure anything when everything already works and you have Internet access?
SECURITY! Recently, people have fallen into 2 types: those who still neglect security and those who already know that Internet security is important. If you leave your wireless network without passwords - an intruder can quickly connect to your router and steal data from connected devices (this can be personal photos, videos, documents, as well as access to various sites, your bank account).
To do this, simply open a browser and type
http://itotolink.net/ or
http://192.168.0.1/, and you will be taken to the start page of our router. Default password (which should be changed after the first connection):
admin
After successfully logging in, you will be greeted by a quick setup wizard. The first thing it suggests is to set the time zone. The time zone is quite important if it is not set correctly - some applications and sites may not work properly or not at all.
The second thing we need to choose is to select the priority Internet connection method. In our case, it is 4G. The router immediately shows our external IP address, module type. You are also prompted to select and manually configure "4gMode", where we can configure the APN (usually necessary if we have individual settings from the operator). You can also enter the PIN for the SIM card (but we have previously removed it from the SIM card and there is no need to enter anything).
The third item offers us Wi-Fi network configuration. It is possible to enable/disable each Wi-Fi frequency, as well as change its name and, of course, set a password. These wireless networks can also be hidden so that they are not visible in the network search, but it is possible to connect to them. There is also a very convenient function " Wireless multi-frequency integration ", which allows you to create one Wi-Fi network, with one name and one password, but which will work on 2 frequencies. This is quite convenient, you won't have to switch between networks and look for the most efficient network, the router will do it for you. In addition, not every device can work on the higher frequency of 5 GHz, and the router will automatically connect our device to the 2.4 GHz network.
The fourth point, as I mentioned earlier, is to change the default administrator password for logging into the device. You can set the same password as for Wi-Fi, but I don't recommend doing that. It's better to come up with a strong password for your device.
In the fifth point we have a summary of our settings. That is, we see our connection type, Wi-Fi settings for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, and the password for logging into the device. If any of the items we would like to change now - we can go back and change the settings. If you are satisfied with all the elements - you can safely press"Done".
After clicking Save Settings, the router will take a minute to save the settings and switch Wi-Fi. Then we will go to the device status page.

In this"Basic" mode, we can see basic connection data, a list of connected devices and the current data transfer speed. Also in the "Internet" tab we can change the method of connection to the Internet. The "Wireless" tab allows us to configure Wi-Fi. "Parental Control" allows you to configure a schedule in which the selected device will only access the Internet at certain times. "Smart QoS" allows you to prioritize different connected devices, i.e. prioritize the speed of data transfer to the Internet.
These are all the basic functions in the"Basic" tab. To configure our router in more detail, go to the " Advanced " tab.
Advanced features
Moving to the"Advanced" ( Advanced ) tab, on the first "Home" tab we see a slightly more extensive status panel, where we can see the chipset load, RAM, download and transfer speeds, as well as the number of connected devices. In addition to this data, we can see the connection time, the IP address of the SIM card, DNS, IMEI and much similar information.
Another"Network" tab gives us such options as configuring the type of Internet connection, configuring the APN, entering the PIN; configuring the local router address, enabling DHCP and IP address reservation time; enabling the DDNS server; sending USSD requests to the operator and receiving responses; sending and receiving SMS messages.
The"Wireless" tab contains options such as Wi-Fi network configuration, wireless network name, password, region, channel for each band (2.4GHz and 5GHz); you can also configure WPS, generate PIN.
The"Parental Control" tab allows you to set for a particular device (by MAC address) access to the network at specific times and days, depending on the set schedule.
Another tab,"Smart QoS," allows you to configure each IP address or group of IP addresses to limit download and upload speeds, freeing up bandwidth for dedicated IP addresses.
In the"Device Management" tab, we can assign a specific IP address to a specific device by MAC address, in conjunction with Smart QoS, we can prioritize devices on the local network.

The"Security" tab speaks for itself, and the Totolink LR1200 gives us options such as blocking IP addresses or ports on those IP addresses, as well as restricting access by the device's MAC address, and limiting access to specific URLs.
Another tab"NAT" has features such as Port Forwarding, DMZ, VPN Passthrough. Port Forwarding allows you to redirect the required ports to external ports on the device, so you can control the devices from anywhere in the world. DMZ allows you to forward all ports of one selected IP address from the local network. VPN Passthrough allows devices from the local network to create VPN channels that will pass through the router without any problems. It is worth remembering that for all these functions to work, you must have a public IP address on the WAN port or on the SIM card, which is a separate service associated with the operator.
In the last tab"Tools" there are also important functions such as changing the password of the device, setting the correct date / time and time zone, setting permissions to remotely control the router on a specific port, setting the router restart schedule, saving / resetting the configuration, restarting and resetting the router. Also a firmware update option, diagnostic capabilities with Ping and Route Tracking commands. And, of course, viewing device logs.
